DFAT recently shared the statistical data for the Australian ODA program.
There’s a lot of great info included, including where the funding goes (spoiler, mainly the Pacific), a breakdown against the SDGs (SDG 3 – good health has the most at $852.6 Million), and Governance being the largest sector (21% of the program).
But, we thought it was interesting to see how each sector is delivered, by which partners. Unsurprisingly, Multilaterals were the largest partner. However, if we remove multilaterals, theres one partner type that takes the lead:
Commercial Partners are the primary delivery method for DFAT’s direct programs for 3 of the 7 sectors, and 2nd (after multilaterals) for 2 of the others.
Sector | Leading Partner Type (Excl Multilaterals) |
---|---|
Economic | Commercial |
Agriculture | Commercial |
Governance | Commercial |
Education | Commercial (universities close second) |
Health | Commercial |
Humanitarian | NGO’s |
Multisector | Other Australian Public Sector |
